On April 18, 1898 an outstanding Georgian female artist Elene Akhvlediani was born in Georgia’s Kakheti region. A painter, graphic artist, and theater decorator Elene used to design plays at Marjanishvili Theater in Tbilisi. The artist earned recognition for her amazing and distinguished artworks of Georgia’s landscapes and old districts. Elene was one of those Georgian artists, who managed to live and study abroad for a while that, as a result, affected her drawing technique and taste. During her life Elene traveled to Italy and France, where other prominent Georgian painters such as Lado Gudiashvili, Davit Kakabadze and Shalva Kikodze used to stay for a while and exhibit their works at prestigious galleries.
